That feeling of being left out, of missing out on all the laughter and memories being made without you?
That is called FOMO — the Fear Of Missing Out — and it’s a powerful force that can drive us to make decisions we might not otherwise make.
This is also called FOMO when you see a limited-period offer and rush to grab the offer in fear that it will be out of stock.

It refers to the anxiety or apprehension that arises when you believe you might be missing out on an interesting, exciting, or rewarding experience that others are having. — TrustPulse

FOMO can be a dangerous thing. It can lead us to say yes to things we don’t really want to do, just so we don’t feel left out.
It can make us spend money we don’t have on things we don’t need, just so we can keep up with the latest trends.
It can even make us neglect our own well-being, as we prioritize being included over taking care of ourselves.
But here’s the thing — FOMO is just an illusion. It’s a trick our minds play on us, making us believe that everyone else is having a better time than we are.
But in reality, those pictures of perfect nights out are just snapshots of a moment in time. They don’t show the fights, the awkward silences, or the moments of loneliness that inevitably come with social gatherings.

So why do we let FOMO control us?
Why do we allow ourselves to be swayed by the fear of missing out on something that might not even be as great as it seems?
We need to learn to trust ourselves, to trust that we are enough on our own, and that we don’t need constant validation from others to feel happy and fulfilled.
Instead of letting FOMO dictate our choices, let’s focus on what truly brings us joy.
How Can We Overcome FOMO!
- Spend time with people who lift us, who make us feel loved and appreciated for who we are.
2. Engage in activities that nourish our souls, that bring us peace and fulfillment.
3. Learn to be content with where we are, knowing that we are exactly where we need to be in this moment.
4. Learn to be in the present moment.
5. Be grateful for ‘what we can do’ & ‘what we do have’.
So the next time you feel that familiar pang of FOMO, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you are enough.
You are worthy of love and belonging, regardless of how many parties you’re invited to or how many likes your posts get.
Embrace the joy of missing out, of choosing to prioritize your well-being over the fleeting pleasures of social validation.
Trust me, you’ll thank yourself in the long run.
