India didn’t have a mall culture until the last decade. Earlier when people want to spend their weekend they used to visit the gardens or relatives' place. There are many small gardens near the river back, which people used to visit every weekend. This garden has all provisions for kids to play with, benches to sit on, and a nice green lawn where families gather for a picnic. These gardens still exist and are used as well by many people for morning walks and for children to use for their entertainment.

In India, the last 10 to 15 years can be counted as changing decade, where many malls came into existence. It has changed the way of people shop, eat, and hang out in India. I am sure your country also has the custom of malls, but to be on the same page with you let me describe malls in India.

The mall is a big multi-story building containing many floors and build upon a big landscape. It has an abundance of parking spaces underground to accommodate the vehicles used by visitors.

The very top floor of the mall is called a food court and might share space with a movie theatre. The food court is my favourite place in a mall, since you get to enjoy different cuisines here. You will find different kinds of restaurants, discs, and bars to hand out. In the centre, there is a big space where many small sitting arrangements are done for 3 to 4 people to sit and enjoy their food. You can also find different small shops serving ice cream, waffles, cotton candy, and doughnuts. Now, McDonald's, Burger King and KFC are also quite famous in these malls.

In one corner you can find a movie theatre. Though it's in the corner, don't count it small. It has at least 6 to 8 screens to show different movies. And In there you will find popcorn shops and other food shops serving different food that you can enjoy while watching a movie.

Now, let's get down to the bottom floors. Now here on the bottom floors, you will find many branded or non-branded shops where you can shop like crazy. (Shopper stop, pantaloons, max, etc.)There is also a place to entertain small kids, book shops, saloons, spa, 99 stores, grocery store, spectacle store, stationery, electronic items, makeup, shoe shop whatnot. You name it and they have it.

At ground floor has its own attraction. Since it is a big space there might be some flea market going on or some food festival going go on.

The mall is a great space to hang out and spend some quality time with friends and family. Summer is quite hot in India, and rain can stop you from going out but the malls come to the rescue since you can visit malls on hot summer days and windy rainy days. You are going to be enjoying yourself inside irrespective of the weather conditions.

If your country does not have a mall culture then if you ever get a chance to visit India, never forget to visit a mall.

I love to know about your experience of the mall. I also love to know what you do in your country to spend your weekend.
